"K-TRACS for Pharmacies: Good Data In, Good Data Out" is a continuing education opportunity for Kansas pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. This course is required for pharmacist compliance with K.A.R. 68-1-1b, effective July 1, 2023.

The course discusses pharmacy requirements for prescription data submission to K-TRACS and the impact of pharmacy data quality on K-TRACS patient reports. The course covers 2023 revisions to K-TRACS regulations, including:

  • Timeliness of reporting
  • Qualifications for exemptions from reporting
  • Requirements to correct outstanding prescription errors
  • Overview of common data quality issues

The course also highlights appropriate use of confidential patient information in K-TRACS and how patient prescription history can be used in clinical decision-making and as part of effective patient care coordination. An overview of the 2022 update to CDC Clinical Practice Guidelines for Prescribing Opioids and statewide naloxone protocol are included, as well as how the K-TRACS Advisory Committee reviews prescription data for patterns of concern.
